Nevada State Oath of Office
Leonard Will Support, Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States and the Nevada Constitution. Leonard believes that one of the main problems with our state government is that our elected officials do not honor their oath of office. The promise in the oath of office is pretty simple: to support, protect and defend the Nevada and United States Constitutions. It is about YOUR Rights. The job of the state legislature is to preserve the rights promised to you by our State and federal Constitutions.
Leonard first took this Oath when he enlisted in the US Navy in 1978 at the age of 17. Upon his Honorable Discharge, this Oath did not go away. Leonard understands that an Oath is forever and it is his goal to follow this Oath as your Assemblyman in the State of Nevada.
You have Leonard's solemn Oath, that he will protect the sovereignty of the American people against unconstitutional actions.

“State legislatures will always be, not only the vigilant, but suspicious and jealous guardians of the rights of the citizens against encroachments from the federal government.”
Alexander Hamilton, Federalist Papers 26 "But as the plan of the convention aims only at a partial union or consolidation, the State governments would clearly retain all the rights of sovereignty which they before had, and which were not, by that act, EXCLUSIVELY delegated to the United States." Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 32, January 3, 1788 |
